A crew moving an old gas station from the East Village to a temporary location at the Kathedral church stalled traffic briefly Wednesday after the crew found that the chimney of the gas station was too tall to pass under the Eighth Street bridge on West Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Kenney Linhart, pastor with KLM International, the group moving the gas station, said his organization plans to renovate the station and turn it into a youth center in the Sherman Hill neighborhood. Traffic light posts were tilted backwards Wednesday afternoon so the station could travel under them, but crews had to remove about a foot of the chimney for it to pass under the Eight and Ninth street bridges.
