Home State Bank announced plans to expand to Polk City with a branch scheduled to open in late 2023. According to a news release, the Jefferson-based bank held a groundbreaking for the new building on Oct. 27 at 101 E. Bridge Road in Polk City. The bank currently has a temporary location in Ankeny. The new Polk City location will be its second branch. Home State Bank President Bob Allen said the new branch will help serve the bank’s growing relationships in the Polk County area. “We were very excited to find the location we did in Polk City and for us to find the right people to serve in that market,” Allen said in the release. “Polk City is a community that many people call home and will be a great community for Home State Bank to have the opportunity to be a part of and to offer full banking services.” Founded in 1934 by Warren Garst, Home State Bank is now owned by a multibank holding company made up of Garst’s grandchildren. According to the release, it employs 49 people who serve customers in 43 states. According to its website, Home State Bank has more than $340 million in assets.
