Homeless shelter receives $2.7 million to build studio apartments

75 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Real Estate and DevelopmentCentral Iowa Shelter & Services this year plans to build 24 studio apartments for homeless people transitioning to independent living. Construction of the apartments, which will be built next to the shelter’s 1420 Mulberry St. location, will begin later this year. The Iowa Finance Authority board of directors awarded the shelter $2.7 million to Central Iowa Shelter & Services to build the apartments. The funding is made available through the National Housing Trust Fund program.
