House sales and prices increased in June across the state

June house sales increased 3.8 percent from a year ago and prices were up 2 percent, the Iowa Association of Realtors said. The median sales price rose to $156,000 from $153,000 in June 2015, according to a release. Sales increased to 4,998 from 4,817 over the one-year period. For the first half of 2016, sales are up 4.6 percent. It took an average 75 days to sell a house in June, compared with 69 a year ago. “Regions across the country experience high highs and low lows, but Iowa continues to increase in value and popularity,” Realtors President Ken Clark said in the release.
