Housing trust award $400,000 in grants to 11 programs

The Polk County Housing Trust Fund’s board of directors this month has awarded $400,000 in grants to 11 programs through the trust’s Community Investment grantmaking program. The money that was awarded helps programs that support affordable housing to area residents. Organizations awarded grants include Anawim Housing’s supporting tenants and housing retention program ($85,000); Iowa Homeless Youth Centers’ Homeless and At-Risk Youth Project ($70,000); Oakridge Neighborhood’s family and workforce services program ($65,000); Iowa Legal Aid’s Polk County housing stability program ($30,000); Families Forward’s home connection program ($25,000); and Primary Health Care’s client assistance program ($25,000). Programs that each received $20,000 include CommonBond Communities’ Des Moines program, HOME Inc.’s housing counseling program, Primary Health Care’s landlord mitigation program, the Beacon’s graduate support program and YMCA Supportive Housing’s graduate program.
