Housing trust awards $953,240 for affordable housing developments, improvements

192 wordsAll Latest News, Housing, Real Estate and DevelopmentThe Polk County Housing Trust Fund has awarded $953,240 in grants and forgivable loans to seven organizations and developers for the addition of 116 housing units in the community. Specifically, the group awarded:
- $435,000 to Anawim Housing for the Monarch Apartments, which will include 30 affordable units at or under 30% of the area median income.
- $240,000 to the Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity for the construction of 12 houses.
- $35,000 to HOME Opportunities Made Easy Inc. for the construction of one new house.
- $100,000 to Cutler Development LLC for the Star Lofts project, which will include 20 affordable units at or under 80% of the area median income.
- $100,000 to DEV Partners for the Concord Apartments, which will include 35 units at or under 80% of the area median income and eight units at or under 30% of the area median income.
- $42,240 to Frank W. Smith Retirement Center for the replacement of apartment air handler units.
- $1,000 to Unevict IA for data gathering and research related to evictions and eviction prevention.
