210 wordsAll Latest News, Housing, Real Estate and DevelopmentHubbell Realty Co. plans on beginning construction in the spring on a $27 million, 162-unit apartment complex called Siena Crossing.
The development will be located on 7 acres south of Oralabor Road and west of Ankeny Boulevard. The project will be adjacent to Hubbell’s Edencrest at Siena Hills senior living community.
The planned Class A project is also near the Des Moines Area Community College campus and the burgeoning Prairie Trail development.
Ankeny is among the nation’s fastest-growing communities. However, Ankeny only added just over 200 apartment units in 2024, while Waukee and West Des Moines added over 900 and 470 units, respectively, according to a news release.
“As we looked to expand our multifamily footprint, it became clear there was a great opportunity in Ankeny near DMACC to provide rental housing for both prospective students and residents alike,” said Matt Weller, Hubbell’s vice president of development.
Siena Crossing will include one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment units and community amenities including a swimming pool, clubhouse, fitness center, dog park, fire pit and green spaces.
