Human rights activist Richardier to deliver Sussman Lecture at Drake

109 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Business Community EventsRenowned doctor and human rights activist Jean-Baptiste Richardier will deliver the Harkin Institute’s Sussman Lecture on March 11 at Drake University. Richardier, co-founder of the international nongovernmental organization Humanity & Inclusion, will discuss what organizers describe as the ongoing daily warfare against civilians, efforts to protect innocent individuals and the importance of providing support and resources for victims. In 1992, under Richardier’s leadership, HI joined forces with five other nongovernmental organizations to form the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which was collectively awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997. The free public event will take place at 7 p.m. in Sheslow Auditorium at Drake University. Registration is available online.
