Hurd acquires property on Des Moines’ south side

304 wordsAll Latest News, Real Estate and DevelopmentCommercial real estate developer Richard Hurd has acquired nearly 15 acres on Des Moines’ south side on which the aged Southridge Square Shopping Center is located, Polk County real estate records show.
Hurd, through Hurd Southbridge LLC, purchased the properties but not the buildings located on the parcels, whose addresses include 1198, 1200 and 1300 E. Army Post Road. The purchase also includes an undeveloped parcel with frontage along Cummins Road.
Hurd, founder and president of Hurd Real Estate Services, bought the property from Cutler Investments LLC. The purchase price was $1.35 million.
The land is valued at nearly $2.7 million.
Buildings on the property include a 115,000-square-foot structure, half of which is occupied by Hobby Lobby. A second retail strip center and stand-alone restaurants are also located on the properties.
The transaction was recorded Nov. 21.
In other transactions:
Bush Family Farms Inc., located in West Des Moines, paid Corey and Rachel Hillebo $1.2 million for nearly 85 acres of farm ground north of Elkhart in Polk County, records show. The ground is located west of Northeast 56th Street and about one-fourth of a mile south of Northeast 150th Avenue. The transaction was recorded Nov. 22.
A St. Louis entity has purchased property at 1435 Mulberry St. in Des Moines, records show. 1435 Mulberry LLC paid Des Moines Area Religious Council $2.35 million for the property that includes a 9,016-square-foot building constructed in 2005. The property is valued at $1.3 million. The transaction was recorded Nov. 22.
Stubbs Development Inc., located in Altoona, paid Margaret Dale, Frank Dale and Billy Dale $1.54 million for 44 acres of undeveloped land in Altoona, records show. The land is roughly located north of Northeast 27th Avenue and about one-fourth of a mile west of Northeast 80th Street in Altoona. The transaction was recorded Nov. 22.
