The city of Huxley has created a grant program to support new and expanding businesses in the community.

According to a news release, grants can be used for facade improvements, buying buildings or land, job creation, training, site development or utility upgrades. Up to $30,000 is available per business with a required dollar-for-dollar match.

The Huxley City Council has approved up to $120,000 a year in funding for the next five years for the program.

“As elected officials we are first and foremost committed to supporting our existing local businesses,” Huxley Mayor Dave Kuhn said in the release. “We welcome the addition of new businesses. This new program supports both efforts.”

Technical support for the grants will be provided by the Ames Regional Economic Alliance. Applications can be obtained at Huxley City Hall or by email at brenda@amesalliance.com.
