Hy-Vee signs deal to replace name of Kansas City’s Kemper Arena

Kemper Arena, a basketball, rodeo and concert arena opened in 1974, will now become Hy-Vee Arena, a mix of commercial offices, dining, retail, golf simulators, CrossFit and a fitness gym. The arena, once home to the NCAA Final Four and Big 12 basketball tournaments, is now undergoing a $39 million renovation to be repurposed. The 19,000-seat Sprint Center in downtown now serves as Kansas City’s marquee indoor sports and concert venue.
