Ian Roberts will be keynote speaker at Des Moines Public Library’s MLK event Monday

131 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and Culture, Diversity, Equity and InclusionThe Des Moines Public Library will host a program celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the Forest Avenue Library, 1326 Forest Ave. in Des Moines. The keynote speaker will be Ian Roberts, the superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools and a former Olympian. Roberts has more than 20 years of experience in education. The After School Arts Program will be leading a collaborative art project that children can participate in to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. After introductions by the Friends of the Forest Avenue Library, Roberts will speak, followed by a question-and-answer session. Refreshments will be provided, courtesy of the Forest Avenue Library Brick Fund. All ages are invited to attend the program, which will be held in the children’s area.
