The city of Boone will receive a grant for $3,025,530 to support improvements to an existing roadway and for the construction of a new road to support the planned Daisy Brand facility and other growth in the community. The Iowa Department of Transportation Commission this month approved the funding from its Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy (RISE) program, according to a news release. The improvements will be for the construction of approximately 1,700 feet of Hancock Drive, including turn lanes and a traffic signal at the intersection of Corporal Roger Snedden Drive and Hancock Drive. In addition to the city’s award, an additional $2,750,000 will be directed to the transportation district for construction of a multilane roundabout at the intersection of U.S. Highway 30 and Corporal Roger Snedden Drive. The release said the projects are expected to take two to three years to complete.
