The announcement comes after the departure of former Indianola City Manager Benjamin Reeves last December. The finalists are Jordan Cook, city administrator for Nevada, Iowa, Jacob Meshke, deputy city manager for Brookings, S.D., and Timothy Vandall, city administrator for Lansing, Kan. MGT, an executive recruitment and management consulting firm that specializes in local government, assisted in selecting the finalists from a field of 59 applicants, a news release said. The responsibilities of the city manager include preparing the annual budget, applying the ordinances set by the City Council, hiring personnel, recommending policies or programs to the council, keeping the council fully advised of the financial and other conditions of the city, and providing the council with information to aid in decision-making. The city will announce the next city manager after deliberations and final review by the mayor and City Council, the release said.
