The Iowa Center for Economic Success is launching a partnership with Fareway to provide small business coaching with the goal of increasing distribution of locally-sourced products in grocery stores. The Iowa Center will enroll a cohort of small business owners in a free educational program with Fareway executive leaders leading weekly classes running from Sept. 18 to Dec. 4. Class topics will include brand awareness, market strategy and promotion, inventory management and distribution and accounting. Distribution of local products has broader impacts on Iowa such as keeping more money in the local economy and creating jobs and having less environmental impact, Mark Juffernbruch, the Iowa Center’s director of business coaching, said in an email. Cohort participants will receive follow-up group and one-on-one coaching from Iowa Center coaches to help them apply their knowledge to their individual business plans. Iowa small business owners with high-potential, early phase products that could be sold in the grocery store are invited to apply on the Iowa Center’s website. The deadline for applications is Sept. 9.
