Iowa Department of Human Services director makes two leadership appointments

Iowa Department of Human Services Director Kelly Garcia announced the appointment of two new division administrators. Marissa Eyanson, currently the bureau chief of Iowa Medicaid Policy, has been named division administrator for Community Services and Supports for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health. Eyanson, a lifelong Iowa resident, has a degree in psychology from Iowa State University and has spent her career in the mental health and disability services space in Iowa. Janee Harvey, most recently the Child Welfare and Community Services bureau chief, has been named division administrator for Adult, Children and Family Services. She has worked with runaway and homeless teens, LGBTQ youth, and families, children and youths involved with the child welfare system for the past 20 years. She is a graduate of Hunter College with a Master of Social Work and is credentialed as a licensed clinical social worker and licensed independent social worker. “I am proud of the team we’re building and excited about the direction we’re heading,” Garcia said in a news release. “We’re working to improve the gaps in our system, focusing on the cross connections of programs within our agency, and exploring ways to measure outcomes to show our progress. These two leaders are going to be vital in that effort.”
