Iowa Farm Bureau emphasizes fiscal responsibility
The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) held its annual meetings Sept. 2-3 in West Des Moines. The hot item at the meetings – fiscal responsibility, particularly with the 2012 Farm Bill. “Our members spent a lot of time discussing the need and the difficulties of reducing our nation’s $13 trillion deficit, which is a burden we don’t want to saddle our grandchildren with,” IFBF president Craig Lang said in a news release. He said delegates agreed the bill must provide “a dependable, fiscally responsible safety net for all farmers.” The IFBF policy will be discussed at the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) meetings in January.
