Des Moines Register: Better-than-expected yields and strong prices are making this year’s harvest a profitable one for Iowa farmers lucky enough to have gotten much-needed rain. The farmers rolling through this harvest are expected to average 201 bushels per acre, the third-highest yield in 155 years of U.S. Department of Agriculture records. Soybean growers are projected to average 61 bushels per acre, the highest yield in nearly a century of records. At the same time, corn and soybean prices are among some of the best in recent years.
