Iowa Females You Should Know: Mary Mosiman

Why

Mary Mosiman is the first woman to serve as Iowa’s state auditor. Initially appointed by Gov. Terry Branstad on May 13, 2013, to fill the unexpired term of her predecessor, she was elected to a full term in the November 2014 general election. Mosiman serves the state as the “taxpayers’ watchdog,” and her office is responsible for auditing counties, cities, school districts and state agencies.

 

Where she’s been

Previously, Mosiman previously worked for two years as a deputy in the secretary of state’s office and worked for 10 years as the elected Story County auditor. Mosiman graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting and is a certified public accountant.
