Iowa-Illinois Safety Council taps new chief

The Iowa-Illinois Safety Council announced today that Adam Lathrop has been named the council’s executive director. He succeeds Laura Johnson, who retired after 10 years as executive director. Lathrop most recently served as the director of community nutrition for the Meals On Wheels program at Wesley Life. IISC, an organization of nearly 1,000 members comprised of manufacturing, agricultural, risk management and environmental related businesses. The group’s function includes educating its members on workplace safety and promoting professional development within its constituency. With the leadership change, the safety council plans to relocate its office from Urbandale to West Des Moines, increase community outreach and develop new partnerships, its board said in a release.
