The pilot session for incoming freshmen, sponsored by State Farm insurance, took place Wednesday at Dowling’s campus in West Des Moines. The Iowa Illinois Safety Council will roll the program out in Iowa with a variety of trainers teaching the students, including law enforcement officials and first responders. Nationwide, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for young adults, with teen drivers nearly three times more likely than drivers age 20 and older to be in a fatal crash. Alive at 25 was developed by the National Safety Council to serve as a supplement to driver’s education.
