175 wordsAll Latest News, Arts and CultureIowa Public Radio has launched its first-ever comprehensive campaign, A Resounding Future, with the goal of raising $6.5 million in current and future gifts. The funds raised will be used to enhance reporting capacity, develop public media professionals, invest in new broadcasting and digital technology, and build resilience through an endowment.
The campaign has already achieved 85% of its goal in just a few months, with major donors, foundations and board members pledging over $5.5 million to date. The campaign is structured so that community members can contribute to one or more target areas with a one-time gift, multiyear pledge or future planned gift from their estate.
The campaign is being led by co-chairs Nora Everett, Robert Riley and Julie Monson, with support from 16 campaign volunteers from around the state. Iowa Public Radio’s Executive Director Myrna Johnson expressed her gratitude for the early and enthusiastic support from the community and emphasized the critical moment in the organization’s history as it celebrates its 100-year anniversary and transitions to an independent public radio network.
