A pending merger between Eldorado Resorts and Caesars Entertainment would give the combined companies a total of four casino properties in Iowa, Radio Iowa reportedThe Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission last week approved the transaction, which includes Horseshoe Casino and Harrah’s Casino, both in Council Bluffs. Eldorado currently owns the Isle of Capri casinos in Waterloo and Bettendorf. The merger will make the resulting company the largest in the country, Iowa Racing and Gaming Commissioner Brian Ohorilko told Radio Iowa. “Very, very big deal with respect to gambling in the U.S.,” he said. ”This is a large merger between two viable companies.” Iowa’s approval is one more step for the companies to complete the $17.3 billion merger, which was announced in June 2019. The new company will be called Caesars and will be based in Reno, Nev.
