Iowa State University, through a nonprofit business entity, will purchase Des Moines-based Iowa Veterinary Specialties (IVS) to form a partnership with the university’s Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center (LVMC) at the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The purchase is pending approval by the Iowa Board of Regents at its Jan. 13 meeting. The two clinics will continue to operate independently in their current locations.

“This affiliation is synergistic with the partners complementing and strengthening each other to create new standards in education and discovery,” said incoming dean of ISU’s College of Veterinary Medicine Lisa Nolan.
