A $35,000 grant from Iowa Total Care will support National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) Iowa events, according to a news release. Iowa Total Care, a subsidiary of Centene Corp., is one of the companies that administers Medicaid health care coverage in Iowa. The grant money will help with NAMI Iowa’s Beautiful Minds, Mental Health Awareness Month event series, the NAMI Iowa walk on Sept. 28, and the mental health conference on Nov. 21. Iowa Total Care also donated office furniture, appliances and artwork for NAMI Iowa. “Mental health education and support are more important than ever before. As we navigate changing mental health needs for youth and adults, it is critical that we work together to address improvements at every point along the continuum of care: prevention, early intervention, treatment, and recovery,” Ryan Crane, executive director of NAMI Iowa, said in a prepared statement. “We recognize the very important role NAMI Iowa plays in supporting and impacting the lives of Iowans,” Mitch Wasden, plan president and CEO of Iowa Total Care, said in a prepared statement.
