Iowa Waste Reduction Center receives grant to enhance brewery pollution prevention

132 wordsAll Latest News, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Retail and BusinessThe Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC) at the University of Northern Iowa has received a $175,159 pollution prevention grant funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Pollution Prevention Grant program. The grant will support the IWRC’s Iowa Green Brewery Certification program and will be used to provide technical assistance and training to technical assistance providers in the EPA’s Region 7 office, which includes Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. The project will include four training webinars covering topics such as developing brewery programs, conducting pollution prevention audits, data collection and analysis, and incentivizing brewery participation. Additionally, six short videos will be produced to showcase pollution prevention strategies and technologies implemented by breweries. Since 2016, the Iowa Green Brewery Certification program has certified over 30 breweries for their pollution prevention work.
