Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame inductees announced
The Iowa Commission on the Status of Women has announced the 2019 Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame inductees. Four women will be inducted into the Hall of Fame, and one woman will receive the Cristine Wilson Medal for Equality and Justice. The 2019 honorees are Ruth Babcock Klotz, Des Moines; Mona Lea Kadel Martin, Davenport; Ione Genevieve Shadduck, West Des Moines; and Florine Mary Swanson, Galt. The 2019 Cristine Wilson Medal for Equality and Justice recipient is Mary Beth Tinker of Washington, D.C., originally from Des Moines. With these inductees, 180 women will have been inducted into the Iowa Women’s Hall of Fame, and the ICSW will have awarded the Cristine Wilson Medal to 32 recipients. The induction ceremony will be held Aug. 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Urbandale High School Performing Arts Center, 7111 Aurora Ave. A reception will immediately follow. The ceremony and reception are free and open to the public.
