144 wordsAll Latest News, Economic Development, Statewide NewsAfter experiencing a net outflow of people for three consecutive years, Iowa’s in-migration rate is again keeping pace with people leaving the state, according to an annual analysis by Atlas Van Lines. Iowa was among 23 states with a balanced migration pattern in 2018, meaning that moves in and out of the state were roughly equal, the study found. The Hawkeye State was also the only Midwestern state that changed status in 2018, and the only balanced state in the region. Four Midwest states — Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas and South Dakota — ranked among the top 10 outbound states. For the second year in a row, the Midwest registered zero inbound states. In 2018, the total number of interstate and cross-border moves in North America reached 71,092, down slightly from 72,986 in 2017. To see an overview of the migration data, click here.
