Iowa’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in November was 3.6%, a slight drop from October’s rate of 3.7%, Iowa Workforce Development announced today. A year ago, the state’s jobless rate was 2.8%. The number of unemployed Iowans declined to 57,900 in November,  down from 59,900 in October. However, some people who exhausted their unemployment benefits may not be included in the state’s unemployed numbers. Between July 1 and Oct. 31, 44,592 Iowans used their limit of up to 26 weeks of regular unemployment benefits. It’s not known whether those Iowans remain unemployed or found jobs, according to the agency’s data. The agency also reported that the total number of working Iowans decreased to 1.56 million in November. In October, 1.57 million Iowans were in the workforce. Nationally, the U.S. unemployment rate in November was 6.7%.
