The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will close 43 offices across the U.S., to save on rent costs, which is projected to save $17.2 million. None of the offices that are closing have walk-in tax help centers, and most have fewer than 25 employees.

Two IRS offices in Iowa, located in Carroll and Spencer, willl be closed within the next two years as part of the money-saving effort, an IRS spokesman said.

The consolidations and office closings are not expected to significantly affect taxpayers, according to a release.
