Iowa State University’s president is the eighth-highest paid among his peers nationally, according to the latest rankings by the Chronicle of Higher Education, The Des Moines Register reported. ISU President Steven Leath’s total compensation for the 2014-15 fiscal year is listed as $820,461, up significantly up from the $466,752 in total compensation listed for him during the 2013-14 academic year. The majority of the increase, however, came from a deferred compensation payout of $320,461 in January 2015. ISU officials said the ranking will go back down for the next few years in which Leath does not have a payout scheduled in deferred compensation.
