Job fair for Tyson workers planned in Perry

Iowa Workforce Development and PerryNext, a group formed to help mitigate the impact of the Tyson layoffs, are hosting the job fair aimed at helping Tyson workers find new careers. Over 1,200 people work at the plant. The jobs fair will be from noon to 5 p.m. May 16 at the National Guard Armory, 2930 Willis Ave. in Perry. “While layoffs at this scale are always difficult, it is our goal to meet that challenge with an equally high number of opportunities to remain in the workforce,” Beth Townsend, executive director of the state agency, said in a prepared statement. “We appreciate the continued partnership with local officials and look forward to helping make these critical connections to new jobs.”
