Jobless claims at lowest levels since July 2008
Applications for unemployment benefits fell to the lowest level since July 2008 for the week ended Dec. 25.
Applications decreased by 34,000 to 388,000 for the week, according to figures from the U.S. Department of Labor.
There is no special reason for the drop, an agency official said in an interview with Bloomberg. Federal Reserve officials say economic growth still is falling short of the rate needed to reduce joblessness.
