Johnston hires Geoff Hubbard to oversee parks

Geoff Hubbard has been hired as parks and recreation director for the city of Johnston. Hubbard most recently worked for the city of Marshalltown, where he oversaw the renovation of the 90-year-old Veterans Memorial Coliseum and secured a significant portion of the project’s funding, according to a news release. He also has worked in the city of Council Bluffs. Hubbard has a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University and a master’s degree from Arizona State University. Hubbard will lead a team of 13 full-time employees as well as seasonal and part-time workers. He will also oversee the city’s parks, tree and senior advisory boards. Hubbard, who began his new job this week, will be paid $120,000 annually.
