Joshua Laraby named Johnston’s new economic developer

Joshua Laraby, has been named economic development director for the city of Johnston, officials announced. Laraby replaces Adam Plagge, who in June was named city administrator for the city of Windsor Heights. Laraby most recently served as the executive director of Grow Fairfield Economic Development Association, a position he held for more than seven years. During his time in Fairfield, Laraby helped lead a comprehensive strategy for economic development, according to a release. His achievements included the orchestration of nationally recognized economic development initiatives and securing over $15 million in development incentives. Laraby, who will be paid $107,500 annually, is a member of the Professional Developers of Iowa and serves on its board of directors.
