The Children’s Cancer Connection will benefit from a local bike ride event organized in honor of Jenna Falbo, who passed away in 2010 from medulloblastoma, a cancerous brain tumor. Jenna’s Jam 2.1, scheduled Saturday, July 17, is a ride of about 30 miles through central Des Moines organized by Jenna’s mom, Jean Rossow-Kinseth. “Jenna so looked forward to her week at CCC’s camp and always hoped to become a counselor herself, so we’re honoring her memory by helping to send other kids fighting cancer to camp,” Rossow-Kinseth said. The ride will start and end at Captain Roy’s on Saylor Road with stops at several restaurants along the route. The Des Moines-based nonprofit provides support resources and programs for families in Iowa affected by pediatric cancer. Its camp programs are free to the families it serves, relying on outside donors and fundraising initiatives. Registration is $30 and includes a bracelet, bandana and champagne toast.
