Junior Achievement of Central Iowa is hosting the fifth annual Stock Market Challenge on Feb. 22. The event consists of two challenges, with the first kicking off when the bell sounds at 10:30 a.m.

About 100 area high school juniors and seniors apply their skills from economics class to a simulated stock market. Participating schools are Adel-DeSoto-Minburn, Des Moines East, Madrid and OA-BCIG. Students will compete in teams of four to rack up the highest gain.

At 5:30 p.m. the corporate event will begin with a representative from John Deere Financial ringing the opening bell to commence trading. With the support of John Deere Financial and many other Central Iowa businesses, Junior Achievement anticipates raising more than $65,000.
