Kaska named president and CEO of Midwest Heritage Bank
Tony Kaska will become president and chief executive officer of Midwest Heritage Bank F.S.B., the banking subsidiary of West Des Moines-based Hy-Vee Inc., the company announced today. The appointment is effective Sept. 14.
Kaska joined Midwest Heritage in 1992 and most recently served as senior vice president of retail lending. He also serves on the bank’s executive committee. During his tenure at the bank, Kaska has had responsibility for all lending and office operations associated with lending programs.
“Under Tony’s leadership, the bank has grown in profitability and has not been affected by many of the loan losses that other financial institutions have experienced recently,” John Briggs, Hy-Vee executive vice president and chief financial officer, said in a press release. “This is a direct result of smart lending practices and attention to detail when working with our bank customers.”
The bank, which has offices in West Des Moines, Chariton and in eight Hy-Vee supermarkets in Central Iowa, reported net income of $139,000 in the quarter ending March 31, the most recent data available.
Kaska received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Northeast Missouri State University and attended the Graduate School of Banking in Boulder, Colo. The Mount Pleasant native currently lives in Chariton, where he serves on the boards of the Lucas County Development Corp. and Chariton Arts and Recreation.
He will replace Jeff Plagge, Midwest Heritage Bank’s outgoing CEO and president, who will join Northwest Financial Corp. in Spencer as its president.
