Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids is seeking a $2 million National Science Foundation grant to construct an educational and research facility near its energy management training center in Jones Hall and a recently installed 2.5-megawatt wind turbine. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported this morning that the Iowa Sustainability Village, which is projected to cost about $2.5 million depending on donations of equipment, will involve three types of buildings constructed over a period of four or five years on 3 acres of the college’s 690-acre main campus.
