Des Moines Register: Kum & Go CEO Kyle Krause will step down at the end of the year, handing the keys to the business to his 33-year-old son. Krause announced his retirement from the 11-state, 400-store Des Moines-based gas station and convenience store chain this morning. He will remain the chief executive of Kum & Go’s parent company, Krause Group, which recently purchased an Italian soccer team. Tanner Krause, who has served as the company’s president since 2018, will take over as chief executive effective Jan. 1, 2021. The business, ranked No. 166 on the Forbes list of America’s largest privately owned companies, has been in the family since the younger Krause’s great-grandfather, Tony Gentle, and grandfather, William Krause, opened a Kum & Go gas station and convenience store in Hampton in 1959.
