Des Moines Register: A new parking payment system originally set to launch in downtown Des Moines at the end of January has been delayed because of inclement weather and supply chain issues, city officials said Monday. The new $3.5 million system will allow motorists to park in any open spot and pay either through an app or at a sidewalk pay station. The city is largely waiting for individual parking spot signage, which will replace the 3,000-plus parking meters currently in service. The signs will bear numbers for individual parking spots, which drivers will use to identify and pay for their parking.
