Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Lifespace’s Deerfield community in Urbandale and Grand Lodge at the Preserve in Lincoln will officially join the Immanuel family of retirement living communities in the third quarter of this year. The deal includes a combined 349 apartments with care levels ranging from independent living to assisted living, memory care, residential care, and skilled-nursing and long-term care. Immanuel owns and operates 16 retirement communities on nine campuses, among them the Shores at Pleasant Hill, and Immanuel Pathways operates three PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) Centers in Iowa and Nebraska. “Immanuel is an ideal organization to carry on the foundation of excellent resident and team member experiences that Lifespace has created together with Deerfield and Grand Lodge at the Preserve,” said Jesse Jantzen, Lifespace president and CEO. “As we sustainably grow our mission in other areas, we confidently and comfortably entrust the well-being of residents and team members to Immanuel’s outstanding earned reputation across the region.” According to its website, Lifespace Communities currently serves 5,100 residents at 15 retirement communities across eight states; Deerfield and Grand Lodge are its only Iowa and Nebraska locations. Susan Straub, director of corporate communications with LifeSpace, said her company “absolutely” has no plans to relocate its West Des Moines home office, which employs just under 100 people.
