Lutheran Services of Iowa received $25,000 from Lutheran Church of Hope to support LSI Refugee and Immigrant Services in the Des Moines area, LSI announced. LSI has advocated for refugee families coming to Iowa for more than 70 years, assisting families as they learn English, begin jobs or take their U.S. citizenship exam. In 2019, 700 former refugees attended LSI’s English, work readiness and citizenship classes in the metro area.
