The Iowa Insurance Division and the National Theatre for Children have partnered to educate and inspire Iowa students and their families. This fall, professional actors from NTC will visit about 50 middle schools with live performances of “Mad About Money,” sparking conversations on financial literacy in classrooms throughout Iowa. “Mad About Money” includes live in-school performances that present educational content to sixth through eighth grade students in a creative, engaging way. In the show, two professional actors perform a series of comedic and educational sketches on investing, the difference between cash and credit, the importance of saving and other topics. The actors use audience suggestions, participation and improv to shape a unique story with every in-school performance. In addition to live in-school performances, “Mad About Money” includes student playbooks, posters, the Money Smart 2.0 online curriculum and other digital activities that align with the important concepts in the live shows. The Insurance Division sponsors every aspect of the program, making the performances and materials a cost-free supplement to lessons in science, literacy and the arts. Performances will take place in October and November.
