Mercy-Centerville is one of four campuses owned by Mercy Medical Center-Des Moines. Christianson was appointed president in 2004 and will be one of the longest-serving administrators in the hospital’s history. Under his leadership, Mercy-Centerville experienced significant growth and became one of Iowa’s most successful rural hospitals. The hospital acquired the former Centerville Medical Clinic and consolidated it with the hospital’s physician clinic under one roof, also obtaining rural health clinic status. Work is scheduled to begin this spring on a multiphase building and renovation project, beginning with a new medical clinic. In 2017, Mercy-Centerville received a Health Grades Patient Safety Excellence Award, a designation that recognizes superior performance in hospitals that have prevented serious complications for patients during hospital stays. A search for Christianson’s successor will begin immediately.
