Mercy Clinics expanding
Two growing Greater Des Moines communities will each get a new medical clinic next year. In Ankeny, Mercy Clinics Inc. has begun construction of a 10,600-square-foot family practice clinic in the Prairie Trail development. In Indianola, Mercy Clinics plans to build a 22,000-square-foot clinic at the new Summercrest Hills development.
“The community of Indianola continues to grow, and this new clinic will help us expand our services to better meet its needs,” said Dr. Michael Sutcliffe, a physician at Mercy Indianola Jefferson Medical Clinic. “This investment will ensure we have the space to best serve our patients and the option to expand our services in the future.”
Mercy Indianola Family Medicine Clinic, to be located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 65/69 and Hillcrest Avenue, will replace two existing clinics – Mercy Indianola Jefferson and Mercy Indianola Detroit – with one larger clinic to better serve patients.
The new facility will house family practice, urgent care and physical therapy clinics and will feature digital X-ray equipment, an expanded laboratory and added parking. Construction is expected to be complete in November. Three-Sixty Group in West Des Moines is the developer.
In Ankeny, the 10,600-square-foot Mercy Prairie Trail Family Medicine Clinic will include 22 patient examination rooms, a laboratory for on-site testing, two procedure rooms and X-ray services, with room to add additional physicians in the future. Ball Construction Services LLC is leading the construction of the building, which Mercy will lease from Ladco Development Inc.
The clinic will be the fourth in Ankeny operated by Mercy Clinics, joining Mercy North, Mercy Gerhart Medical Clinic and Mercy Van Oort Medical Clinic.
“We are proud to strengthen our presence in Ankeny and be a part of the innovative Prairie Trail community,” said Dr. Dave Swieskowski, CEO of Mercy Clinics. “We look forward to serving patients here and bringing our services closer to where our patients live and work.”
Prairie Trail, a planned mixed-use community situated on more than 1,000 acres formerly owned by Iowa State University, is being developed by DRA Properties LC, a real estate development company owned by Dennis Albaugh.
