Mercy Hospice plans 10th anniversary events
A 10th anniversary celebration of Mercy Hospice – Johnston on Oct. 10 will feature an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. followed by a benefit concert at Hoyt Sherman Place headlined by renowned opera singer Simon Estes. Richard Pates, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines, will lead a rededication ceremony of the facility at 4:30 p.m. Among performers at the concert will be James Thompson, a tenor who studied under Estes, and the Sonshine Singers of Fort Dodge, a choir with members from 40 area churches.
