Metro Waste Authority releases financials

Metro Waste Authority (MWA) operating revenues totaled $22.5 million for the year ended June 30, a less than 1 percent increase from 2009. Expenses for the fiscal year totaled $16.9 million, a half-percent decrease from the prior year. The MWA also received a “clean” audit opinion from Denman & Co. LLP, the 17th consecutive year it has received independent confirmation that its financial statements are presented fairly and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. An independent government agency, MWA operates the Metro Park East Landfill, the Metro Park West Landfill, the Metro Transfer Station, the Metro Compost Center, the Regional Collection Center and the Curb It! curbside recycling program.
