Miami launches form-based zoning
The city of Miami has launched a new form-based zoning code guided by the tenets of new urbanism and smart growth, a national movement that involves the application of planning principles that support environmentally sensitive, economically viable and community-oriented development. According to the city’s planning department, “Miami 21 entails a holistic approach to land use and urban planning. It will provide a clear vision for the city that will be supported by specific guidelines and regulations so that future generations will reap the benefits of well-balanced neighborhoods and rich quality of life.” For more information, click here.
