Midwest manufacturing output up in July
Regional manufacturing output increased in July, bumping up the Chicago Fed Midwest Manufacturing Index 1.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted level of 95.6.
The index stood at 100 in July 2007. Regional output rose 12.5 percent in July from a year earlier, while national output increased 5.2 percent.
The region’s auto production rose 6.3 percent and the resource sector inched up 0.3 percent. Steel and machinery output declined slightly.
